CLEVELAND, Tenn - A Triple Crown, a three-race format, for Limited/Crate Late Models will top the racing card at Cleveland Speedway this Saturday night. The three-race format will include two 15-lap events and a 20-lap finale.
“We are trying to come up with race programs that will reward the drivers and give the fans a little something extra,” said Cleveland Speedway owner and promoter Monty Morrow. “The Triple Crown race format is a great way to create excitement both in the pits and the grandstands without costing anyone an arm and a leg.”
Here is the Triple Crown format for Limited/Crate Late Models. All cars qualify with the top 16 locked in. There will be two consi’s to fill the field. Run the first 15-lap feature. The winner of the first feature will draw a four, six or eight pill to determine the inversion of the second 15-lap feature.
Drivers receive points for their finishes in the first two features after the second feature is run. The winner of each feature is awarded 26 points, second 24 points, third 23 points falling one point per position from here on back. All cars not starting in a feature gets one point.
High point man starts on the pole of the third feature which will be 20-laps. Next in points starts second down through the field.
One driver could win $2,400. The winner of the first feature wins $400, the second feature $400 and the third feature $600. If one driver wins all three he picks up an addition $1,000 for Car Smart of Cleveland.
Drivers must use the same car in all three features. Drivers must let a track official know if they were unable to continue after the first feature. If a driver were scratched after the first feature an alternate, selected from the consi finishes, would be named for the second feature.
