Many have inquired about the rumored karts on asphalt race on the Huntsville Speedway quarter mile, and now it appears that the rumors were true. The track has scheduled a kart race for December 6, 2008, calling it "The Iceberg".
The karts will have the opportunity to run on the high-banked asphalt oval for a mere $15 gate and $20 entry fee. Grandstand admission is free for spectators. The track is paying back 100% in all divisions plus $100 up front in any class with five or more karts. There is also the possibility of $250 up front for Pro Stock and Pro Limited classes. The track will allow mixing of Animal and Flathead engines. The Limited Modified will be separated if there are enough entries. There is no tire rule and no muffler rule. Junior 1 (Purple Plate) and Amateurs must run a wide bumper. Gates will open at 9 am with two rounds of hot laps beginning at noon. There may be an additional round of practice if time permits. More info will be forthcoming. |
